Gastrobar de Burgemeester

Horeca

In historic Oirschot, just steps from the basilica on the Vrijthof, De Burgemeester’s former band hall was ready for a new identity. Once used for community gatherings and funeral receptions, it offered enormous potential. Chef-owner David Slits gave us complete creative freedom, and we made the most of it.

Our designers Mariëlle and Robin chose a distinctive direction: colourful walls, warm fabrics, lush floral prints and an ornate ceiling. Every detail has a purpose. The original glass chandeliers were retained and given a contemporary twist with pleated voile in the same floral print as the chairs.

The bar is the focal point, positioned in front of the raised floor area. Upholstered panels, a burgundy marble-effect countertop and a taupe canopy with textured ochre glass create a striking stage for the bartenders.

Guests have flocked in from day one, for dinner as well as drinks. De Burgemeester has become a favourite meeting place in Oirschot: a gastrobar in the Brainport region with the appeal of leading venues in Amsterdam or Antwerp.
